The Ford Motor Company is an American automobile manufacturer based in Dearborn, Michigan. Founded by Henry Ford in 1903, it is currently the fourth-largest automobile manufacturer in the world based on sales figures and production volume.

Aside from its main Ford brand, Ford also manufactures vehicles under its Lincoln and Mercury brands in North America and manages Volvo Cars of Sweden as a fully-owned division. Ford also owns shares in Mazda of Japan and Troller of Brazil. Until 2008, Ford also owned English luxury brands Land Rover, Jaguar and Aston Martin which were sold after Ford Chief Executive Officer Alan Mulally stated his desire on accumulating much-needed capital from their sales and using it to strengthen the Ford brand.
